“Having someone volunteer to accompany me on my journey of self-discovery feels reassuring — especially someone who takes it so seriously. It makes the whole thing feel more solid, somehow, like we’re going to take actual steps to figure out my future instead of just wandering cluelessly around Japan. Which was basically as far as I’d gotten when it came to making a ‘plan.'”

second quarter of high school
Greetings & salutations! ‘Tis I, Minah, also known as Libraime! So, currently, I am in the 2nd grading period of my last year of high school! There are 4 separate grading periods (each last 9 nine weeks), and I just recently finished my 1st grading period! I mostly had A’s, a few B’s, one C, and one D. So, I’m actually doing pretty good compared to previous school years.
Why do I say that I’m “actually doing pretty good compared to previous school years?” That’s because almost every single year of school, I have started the school year off terribly. I usually start each school year with really low grades, because I have an awful habit of procrastinating.
But I’m very proud of myself this year! Although the one D grade (a 67 out of 100) sucks. It’s my Honors Astronomy class; I missed quite a few classes by either leaving early or helping out other teachers during that class period. Also, it doesn’t help that I screwed up 2 very big summative assignments… (Summative means that it’s pretty much a test grade; summative assignments are worth 60-80% of my grade).
Anyway, I just wanted to check in with a blog post. Also! I have a Ko-Fi page now (link will be at the end of this post; click the multicolored button), and in return for each coffee you donate to me, I will write 1 small piece for you of your choice! It can be a small fanfiction, a poem, a short story, anything you desire! The longer the piece, the more coffees it’ll cost! So, if you’d like me to write something just for you, please donate me a coffee ($3 each)! Please & thank you~!

nanowrimo 2019 starts tomorrow
Greetings & salutations! It is I, Minah, also known as Libraime! As you can tell from the title, tomorrow is the start of NaNoWriMo 2019! Yay!!! If you’re wondering what NaNoWriMo is, let me explain!

NaNoWriMo stands for National November Writing Month! For those who participate in NaNoWriMo, the goal is to write an entire novel in the timespan of the single month of November! You set a word goal (mine is 50K words) and proceed to start writing! It’s an amazing organization!
If you would like to join NaNoWriMo, you can join either the young writers’ version (link to young writers’ NaNoWriMo) or the adult writers’ version (link to adult writers’ NaNoWriMo)! If you enjoy writing, I highly suggest attempting to do NaNoWriMo! Even if you don’t succeed, it’s a ton of fun and an extremely eye-opening experience!
This will be my second year of doing NaNoWriMo! I did it last year, and I completed my goal (25K words)! But I’ll be honest with you, the main reason why I succeeded in my goal is because I just typed up the word “banana” over and over again, admittedly… Yeah, that was fun, lol!

Anyway, tomorrow is the start of NaNoWriMo, and I really hope some of you try it out! I have a really cool idea for my novel, and I’ll give you a little insight into my novel. It’s going to be a one-sided LGBTQ+ love story. There’s two main characters: Essie (who falls in love with one of her best friends, a girl named Sadie) and Aiyden (Essie and Sadie’s other best friend who’s struggling with family issues and is going in a downward spiral). That’s all I’m going to tell you, for now!

Anyway, I’m going to end this blog post here! I sincerely wish you all a spectacular day! This is Libraime, logging off!

what are anxiety attacks?
Greetings & salutations! It’s Minah, AKA Libraime! We’re back with another blog post about anxiety (link to first post)! In the previous post, we talked what anxiety is, general anxiety versus anxiety disorders, and symptoms of anxiety! Now, in this post, we’re going to be discussing anxiety attacks! I really hope that this brings some insight to those struggling with anxiety!

What are anxiety attacks? Anxiety attacks are a feeling of overwhelming, controlling apprehension, fear, worry, distress, or stress. For a lot of people, these anxiety attacks can build up slowly but surely, and will/may worsen when a stressful event occurs.
Anxiety attacks vary greatly from individual to individual, when it comes to symptoms, triggers, resulting behaviors, and et cetera. According to healthline.com, it’s because the many symptoms of anxiety don’t happen to everyone, and in addition, they can change over time.
Common symptoms of anxiety may include:
- Feeling faint or dizziness
- Shortness of breath
- Dry mouth
- Sweating
- Chills or hot flashes
- Apprehension and/or worry
- Restlessness
- Distress
- Fear
- Numbness and/or tingling

Some people confuse anxiety attacks with panic attacks, but know that they’re different. Prior to researching, even I didn’t know that there were differences. Thus, we’ll be exploring some of those differences in a later post. However, for now, I’ll provide you with some simple differences.
According to medicalnewstoday.com, panic attacks are typically more intense than anxiety attacks. In addition, panic attacks are generally more of a sudden, out-of-the-blue occurrence, while anxiety attacks usually have a trigger.
However, this does not mean that panic attacks don’t have a trigger. Sometimes they do have a trigger, sometimes they’re out-of-the-blue, sometimes they can even be a build-up of anxiety. For example, someone with anxiety has been put through uncomfortable situations again and again, repeatedly. All that stress/distress and anxiety builds up, until they may have a panic attack.
We’re going to end this blog post here, but I really hope that this post helped! If you have anything to add to this post, please comment it down below and I will add it in! I am not an expert nor a professional; I am simply an individual who suffers from an anxiety disorder and wishes to help & support others.
In a later post, we will be exploring ways to calm down during an anxiety attack/panic attack, so keep an eye out for that! I sincerely hope that you all have a fantastic day! This is Libraime, logging off!
what is anxiety?
Greetings & salutations! It’s yours truly, Minah AKA Libraime! So, if you can tell from the title of this blog post, for today, I’ve decided to write a post on anxiety! I have anxiety too, and it can very hard to deal with. It’s a real struggle but it’s very important to learn how to deal with it. Starting in this post, we’re going to learn about anxiety.

You might be wondering: what is anxiety? Anxiety is your body’s natural response to stress, according to healthline.com. “It’s a feeling of fear or apprehension about what’s to come.” Anything can make you anxious. From something as huge as an important job interview to something as small as leaving the house, anything can trigger an anxiety attack. Some people have anxiety that is so severe, it can be considered an anxiety disorder.
It’s perfectly normal to feel anxious/scared about anything: taking a test, asking out your crush, going to school, anything and everything. Anxiety is unpleasant, but everyone experiences it. Some less than others, and others more than most. Ordinary anxiety comes and goes, but it won’t affect your everyday life.

However, an anxiety disorder means that the feeling of fear and/or panic can be with you all the time. It can be very intense, crippling almost. This anxiety may restrict you from doing the simplest of things, such as talking to your boss or even walking across the street. I, along with a wide majority of my friends, have an anxiety disorder. And that’s okay. You’re not alone in this struggle, and there will always be people around you willing to help and support you (we will be delving into how to support someone with anxiety in a later post).
Anxiety disorders are the most common form of emotional disorders and can affect anyone at any age, according to healthline.com.
If you’re wondering if you have anxiety, there may be symptoms. Symptoms of general anxiety may include: rapid breathing, increased heart rate, restlessness, troubles falling asleep, and/or difficulty concentrating. The anxiety symptoms you may have might be completely different from someone else’s anxiety symptoms. If you think you may have anxiety, ask a trusted adult and/or professional. It may be your best friend, your counselor, your parent/guardian, your doctor, whoever you can trust and can help you.
In a later post, I will be detailing what an anxiety attack is (link to anxiety attack post), and how to deal with it.
I sincerely hope that this post helps bring some insight into your life. Know that there are countless people you can talk to and rely on. I will be making more posts about anxiety later on, so keep an eye out! I’m ending this post here, but I wish you all a spectacular day!

happy asexual awareness week
Greetings & salutations! As you can tell from the title, this post is celebrating Asexual Awareness Week! I’m kind of late to the party, so I apologize for that! But I wanted to make a post at least at some point!
If you’re wondering what asexuality is, it’s a sexual orientation (or it can be considered as a lack of sexual orientation) where you experience little to no sexual attraction to others. This does NOT mean that they’re not into relationships; everyone is different in their experiences/views.

There are many different forms of attraction (link to website), such as: romantic (desiring a romantic relationship), aesthetic (attracted to someone based on their appearance), sensual/physical (desiring physical touch, like cuddling or holding hands), platonic (wanting to be friends), emotional (desiring an emotional connection), and more. Every asexual is different, and it’s possible for them to experience all of these forms of attraction.
A common misconception of asexuality is that someone who is asexual does not enjoy sex. This is false, it just means that they don’t feel sexual attraction (as in they’re not attracted to someone sexually).
There is much more to asexuality that I don’t understand, and it’s always a spectacular experience learning more about the LGBTQ+ world! Personally, I am bisexual, which means I am attracted to both males and females!
I highly encourage you to learn more about asexuality! Knowledge is power and is very enriching to life!
I’m going to end this blog post here, but a HUGE shout-out to all my asexual readers out there! You’re beautiful, strong, and amazing! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Have a fantastic day!
senior year and the future
Greetings and salutations! ‘Tis I, Minah! Once again, like my previous status post, I’m in my College Composition class. I think it’s becoming a regular thing to blog while I’m in my College Comp class… I finish my work quickly and then I (usually) have nothing to do, so I decide to blog, lol!
In case you didn’t realize, I’m a senior in high school! It’s a lot of fun and very exciting because it’s my last year of school before I go off to college. But on the other hand, it’s a lot of hard work. I have to focus on my classes (I chose a full schedule to keep myself busy), keep my GPA up (I’m proud to say it’s currently a 3.5), keep up with work and Girl Scouts and Youth Group and all the other organizations that I’m a part of, study, and prepare myself for college! I’ve been handling it alright so far, but it can be overwhelming at times.
For most of my life, my parents, extended family, and the influential adults around me have pushed me to plan for the future and to know what I want to do in life, so I have the next few years planned out.
I want to go to college (preferably to VCU or Roanoke College) and dual-major. I want to major in Business Administration/Management and either Creative Writing or Culinary Arts (or both, if I’m lucky). Once I graduate from college, I’ll go into a business career, hopefully working my way up and saving money along the way. And one day, I plan to start my own business: a cafe/bakery! It’s always been my dream to start my own business, and sell the food I love to make! Thus, that is my goal that I’m working so eagerly towards!
I have a lot of dreams and things that I want to accomplish, so I’m working hard towards my goals! I believe that having a surplus of aspirations is a good thing, because it motivates you to keep doing your best and keep trying!
It’s very interesting to think about your plan for life. It can be hard, and complicated, and confusing, and even scary! For most people, it can be quite a daunting task. Nevertheless, I believe everyone should at least take some thought to their future. To think about what they want to do in life. To contemplate their options. To dream about what they want to achieve. It can open up a whole new perspective for you.
I encourage you to take some time today to think about your future, your dreams, your goals, your aspirations, your life. It can be as long as two hours or as short as a minute, but take some time to contemplate it. It may gift you a whole new mindset.
Well, I think that might be enough “deepness” for this post, haha! I’m going to end this blog post here! I hope you all have a spectacular day, and don’t forget that only you can make your day great! Bye!
oh so extremely exhausted
Greetings and salutations, readers! It is a very cold autumn day here in Virginia (the state I live), and I’m currently in class (my College Composition class, to be exact). I’ve already completed all of my schoolwork, so I decided to do some blogging, because “why not?”
I hope you all are having a spectacular day!! Because I am most definitely not!
My mom took away my car (an oldie but a goodie: a ’92 Toyota Camry which I’ve dubbed “Andrew”), because I refused to go on another college tour of VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University). This would be my third time visiting, but I didn’t want to miss my classes today, so out of anger, she took my car keys (and in the process, my house keys).
So, my usual transportation to school (my car) was taken away, and I also missed the school bus, so I was out of luck. The worst part? My two best friends usually rely on me to get us to school, so this affected them as well. We were planning on calling an Uber, but PRAISE THE HEAVENS because my SPECTACULAR neighbor called Mrs Gail (link to her art Instagram), who is practically a mother to me, offered to drive us so HALLELUJAH!!
We got to school just on time, which was good.
But now I’m very upset and tired. Also, I have messed-up mascara all over my face because I was admittedly crying. Forewarning: I NEVER wear make-up, I let my best friend put it on me ever now and then, like once in a blue moon.
But yeah, that’s how my morning has been, but I am DETERMINED to make today a BETTER DAY!!
And it WILL be a better day, because I have two of my favorite classes today: College Composition and Creative Writing! YAY!
So, wish me luck! I hope you all are having a better day than I am, and if you are having a bad day? Know that you have the power to change that and YOU can make it a good day!!
Love you all! Have a spectacular day!! Adieu!
-Minah H. (yours truly)
